You have to compete and you’re gonna have to beat somebody and earn that spot and take that job from someone else

Stanford Football : «Road to the Roses». Et interessant innblikk i amerikansk collegefotball og David Shaw’s verden. Shaw ble valgt til Pac-12 Coach of the Year i 2011 og 2012.
Det er mange klipp der coach Shaw snakker til laget. Spesielt interessant hvordan han hele tiden jobber med å mane til enda bedre innsats og toner ned verdien av seier i den enkelte kamp.

  • «It ain’t a big deal. Great teams expect to win and we’re not surprised by it. Great teams can handle success.»
  • «We’re not close to our ceiling are we? Guess what, in a week from now we have to be a hell of a lot better, a hell of a lot closer. Take this win, enjoy it, get some rest» (etter brakseier 50-13 mot Duke).
  • «At some point we got to realize it’s our job to put our best on every single play. We didn’t do that today. We don’t care who plays against us. We didn’t do that today. I don’t care who’s in the other locker room. That doesn’t matter. We’ve got to realize that. We got to understand that. The sand is dripping through the hourglass … there’s a lot that we can accomplish if this locker room decide, if this locker room puts the pressure on ourselves individually and ourselves collectively to play our best … we can play so much better … I need to start seeing it» (etter seier 24-19 over Washington).
  • «Everything in life that’s worth a damn is hard.»
